Blemishes are characterized as any discolored mark or area of the skin and are generally caused by acne scarring or sun damage. Some, such as birthmarks, are simply there, while others can be caused by medications, hormonal imbalances and more. There are even age and genetic factors that affect the blemishes you get and will get as time goes on. Women tend to suffer from blemishes more commonly than men, but members of both genders and any race can suffer from blemishes that are unsightly and embarrassing.
