Smelly feet can be really embarrassing and they’re often a sign of stress, excessive sweating, or a build up of bacteria in the shoes. You can get rid of smelly feet through some simple home remedies, most of which just require you to spend a few minutes pampering your feet in a nice warm foot soak! Remember to always dry your feet thoroughly; especially between your toes, and to do the soaks before bed as much as possible so your feet can air out at night!

 

How do I prevent smelly feet?

  • Wash your feet every day with an antibacterial soap
  • Wear shoes that allow your feet to breathe
  • Always dry your feet thoroughly after a shower
  • Rub your feet with talcum powder, baking soda or corn starch
  • Change your socks daily
  • Powder shoes and socks with baking soda
  • Drop a couple of clothes in your shoes on the days you don’t need to wear them
  • Rotate your shoes
  • Wash your shoes regularly
  • Remove your shoes often
  • Use a shoe dryer

 

How can I treat smelly feet?

  • Soak your feet in a bucket of warm water and baking soda every night.
  • Soak your feet in warm water mixed with a few drops of lavender oil twice a day for a few days.
  • Soak your feet in water with a half cup of kosher salt to help dry the skin.
  • Use your deodorant on your feet.
  • Wear wool socks instead of acrylic so that your feet can breathe.
  • Avoid strongly flavored foods such as garlic, onions, scallions and peppers because the smell can pass through your sweat.
  • Rub your feet with ginger pulp every night after your shower for two weeks.
  • Do a tea soak for 30 minutes a day once a week.
  • Keep your feet well-groomed.
  • Stress less.
