Natural Remedies for Vaginitis

Vaginitis describes a number of conditions that infect or inflame the vagina. It can include bacterial, yeast, fungal or viral infections. It can also be caused by irritation from chemicals or clothes that are too tight, It can be painful and embarrassing. If you have vaginitis be sure you speak to your doctor so that he can diagnose which type you have. There are six types of vaginitis, and it is possible to have more than one type happening at a time.

How can I tell if I have vaginitis?

  • Abnormal vaginal discharge with a funny odor
  • Burning sensation during urination
  • Itching on the outside of the vagina
  • Discomfort during intercourse

 

How can I prevent vaginitis?

  • Avoid hot baths and hot tubs.
  • Be sure when you shower you fully rinse soap from the genital area. Avoid scented and harsh soaps.
  • When you use the bathroom always wipe from front to back.
  • Don’t douche; it increases the risk of infeection.
  • Wear cotton underpants and nylons or pantyhose with a cotton crotch so that everything can breathe.

 

How can I treat vaginitis?

  • Take a bath with one cup of apple cider vinegar and soak for 15-20 minutes. Swish the water in the direction of the vagina. This helps to kills the bacteria and toxins that cause vaginitis.
  • Make a wash with 2-3 tablespoons of tea tree oil and a bowl of warm water. Rinse with the solution to help kill bacteria and eliminate odor.
  • Grind up a clove of garlic into a paste and spread it around your vagina. Let sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with water. It kills bacteria, fungi and viruses.
  • Fenugreek helps to regulate hormones and menstrual cycles. Mix two tablespoons in water and drink before sleep.
  • Yogurt helps to rebalance pH levels. Soak a tampon in yogurt, insert it, let it sit for five minutes, then remove it and wash thoroughly.
  • Eat fruits high in vitamin C. It helps to reduce odor and fight infection.
  • Limit the intake of high fat foods.
  • Take vitamin E and eat foods high in vitamin E such as avocado, kiwi and spinach.
