Treat Meniere’s Disease Naturally

Meniere’s disease is a condition that causes hearing and balance problems. It often affects only one ear and not all the time. Some patients may go months between episodes without experiencing any problems.  It occurs gradually over time and is most common in those between 40 and 60 years old. It is believed to be caused by an imbalance of fluid in the inner ear, though what causes this imbalance is unknown.

 

How do I know if I have Meniere’s disease?

How do I prevent Meniere’s disease?

Doctor’s aren’t sure what causes Meniere’s disease, as such there is no way to prevent it from occurring. It seems to be a combination of factors including abnormal immune response, allergies, genetic predisposition, and improper fluid drainage due to blockage or abnormalities.

 

How can I treat Meniere’s disease?

  • Sit down or lie down the moment you feel dizzy.
  • Avoid bright lights, television, or reading while dizzy.
  • Rest during and after attacks; don’t rush to return to full activity.
  • Bear in mind that you may lose your balance during an attack.
  • Stop smoking!
  • Work on reducing your stress levels.
  • Reduce your salt intake to help keep from retaining water.
  • Eat smaller meals more frequently to help control fluid build up.
  • Avoid allergens as it can cause your Meniere’s to flare up more easily.
  • Gingko blob may help to reduce vertigo and tinnitus.
  • Lysine may help control vertigo.
  • Eat a well balanced diet.
  • Tai-chi may help those with Meniere’s disease regain their balance.
