Preventing And Fighting Cancer With Nutrition

In the modern day across the Western World, and in most places on the planet, cancer is the most feared diagnosis, and one of our most deadly killers.  While we have a manifold of advanced treatments, many types of cancer are not detected early enough, and many cancers have a very low survival rate even with chemo, radiation, and surgery.  There are several undeniable, scientifically accepted, proven facts, however, that are rarely given much attention, despite such terrible suffering and death.  One is that we all have cancer right now.  Cancerous cells are actually quite common, but our body has systems built in to recognize that there is something going wrong and to terminate these faulty cells.  It is also well known that cancer cannot survive to proliferate and be dangerous in an oxygen rich environment, or in an alkaline environment.  These factors can be changed so that cancer cannot form in the first place, and tumors can be beaten.

Such systems and conditions in our body have gotten placed out of balance in the first place because of all the different elements of our modern lifestyle.  Unnatural chemicals that are toxic to us that we come in contact with every day through our hygiene products (shampoos, deodorants, toothpaste, soap, etc.), the air we breathe, our household cleaners and detergents, and perhaps most of all from our food.  Food in general has become a food like product, instead of a nourishing and health sustaining part of our lives.  We eat food that is nothing like what we evolved to live off of.  The source of our food, the way it’s prepared, the ratios of what we eat, it’s all wrong.  Our bodies were designed to eat vegetables, not refined pastas and breads.  We were meant to eat some meat when we could get it, but not heaping servings with every meal.  Refined sugar did not exist, and this is perhaps the biggest scourge to our health in the modern day.

So what does this unnatural and imbalanced modern diet do?  There is a load of terribly negative effects, but the one most pertinent to the discussion of cancer is that it turns our body acidic.  Sugars, refined carbs (white breads, pastas, white rice, white flour, soda, sweets, high fructose corn syrup and any kind of white sugar, etc.), and animal products, especially meat, turn our pH balance from its ideal range of 7.3-7.4 (a minimally alkaline level) to an acidic level (below a pH of 7).  This pH level reflects the acidity or alkaline levels of our blood, our interstitial fluid (the liquids that are between our organs, where many nutrients and reactions move through and take place), our saliva, and our very organs themselves.

Meats are the most acidifying, with sugar, grains, and dairy coming shortly behind.  The more refined something is, the more acidifying it is likely to be.  Does this mean you cannot have these foods anymore?  No, you can feel free to still eat these kinds of food items; it’s all about attaining a proper balance.  You want to minimize them, though, and pack your diet with foods that cause your body to become more alkaline.  By minimizing foods that make you acidic, and eating mostly foods that make you alkaline, you can keep your body in a state that will now allow cancer to grow!  But what foods help you be alkaline?  Vegetables, fruits, whole grains (non-refined grains), nuts, and legumes are all foods that will make your body more alkaline, and are incredibly healthy anyway!  Each of these types of foods are packed with important nutrients, and some of them, such as garlic and onions are powerful cancer fighting foods by themselves.

So enrich your diet by eating what our bodies were designed to eat, keep them healthy, balanced and don’t give cancer a chance to form in the first place!  Do remember you don’t have to be puritanical about it, you can still have some acidic foods, but minimize it!  If you have cancer, especially advanced cancer, you will actually want to keep it pretty fully alkaline to really eliminate the disease.  A daily salad may just be the best chance you have for health!
