Astigmatism is considered a common eye condition that is easily corrected. When your eye is formed and is not completely round, it causes a refractive error that is called astigmatism. This error occurs in everyone to some degree, however for those with a more severe problem glasses and other vision correction treatments are recommended. It causes blurred and distorted vision, and can make objects at a distance appear blurry and wavy since only one part of an object can be in focus at a time.

How do I prevent astigmatism?
Because astigmatism is caused by the formation of the eye, it is not possible to prevent getting astigmatism.
How can I treat astigmatism?
- Rest your eyes for five minutes every hour by relaxing your gaze and staring into space
- Blink your eyes regularly to reduce eye strain
- Take regular meditation breaks to help relax head and shoulder muscles that can cause eye strain
- Release facial tension and eye strain by yawning in an exaggerated fashion to stretch and relax the facial muscles
- Fully rest your eyes for five minutes every two hours by covering them for five minutes while doing deep breathing exercises
- Exercise your eyes by spending twenty minutes a day, rapidly switching your focus from your hand held six inches from your face to a far wall
- Drink sixteen ounces of carrot, celery, cucumber and spinach juice every day
