Get Rid of Dandruff Naturally

Dandruff occurs when the skin on the scalp sheds off in white flakes. It can be caused by a form of eczema or a fungal infection as well as hormonal and seasonal changes. It can be an embarrassing condition to suffer from as the flakes can be quite large at times. Most doctors will recommend a medicated shampoo but there are other treatments for dandruff that you can try as well.

How do I know if I have dandruff?

  • White flakes of skin
  • Itchy scalp
  • Scaly scalp
  • Excessively dry scalp
  • Excessively oily scalp

How do I prevent dandruff?

The best way to prevent dandruff is to shower regularly to control the amount of flaking that occurs.

How can I treat dandruff?

  • Try adding a little baking soda to your shower. Your hair may dry out at first but soon it will be healthier than ever as will your scalp.
  • Try a lemon wash. Massage a couple tablespoons of lemon juice into the scalp, then rinse with a mixture of a teaspoon of lemon juice in a cup of water.
  • Have a salt scalp massage. Shake a little table salt into your hair and gently massage. You’ll naturally work out the flakes and be ready for a good washing.
  • An apple cider vinegar rinse, 1 part vinegar to 1 part water, will help to eliminate any fungus on your scalp.
  • Brush your hair after you shower.
  • Try to limit your stress.
  • Use yogurt as a conditioner. Leave in for 10-15 minutes before washing it out.
  • Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic, works great as a shampoo and smells good too.
