Get Rid of Itchy Skin Naturally

Itchy is unpleasant and often drives us to scratch the part of our body causing the problem. Medically known as pruritis, it is often a symptom of other conditions such as allergies or skin conditions such as eczema, but it can also be caused by simply having dry skin. It can be generalized, where itching is over the whole body or localized where it occurs in just one small place. In most people itching skin is mild and only generally irritating, but for others it can be debilitating. Get it under control with these simple remedies; heal your skin and be healthy!

  • Don’t scratch.
  • Avoid allergens.
  • Keep skin moisturized.
  • Protect yourself from bug bites.
  • Avoid synthetic fabrics and stick to cotton as much as you can.
  • Avoid scented soaps and laundry detergents.
  • Keep your air moist.
  • Stay hydrated.


How can I treat itchy skin?

  • Soak in an oatmeal or baking soda bath then air dry. This helps to soothe the skin.
  • If your itch is in a specific place, apply a baking soda and water paste.
  • Squeeze a little lemon juice on an itch. It’s got anesthetic and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Combine cloves and juniper berries and use them to make an anti-itch lotion that helps to numb and soothe the skin.
  • Basil tea, mint tea or thyme tea can be applied to the skin to help numb and soothe it as well.
  • Aloe vera gel can be used to soothe any itch or burn.
  • Apply some bentonite clay to bug bites or itchy skin. Wait until it dried then just peel it off.
  • Apple cider vinegar is great at relieving itch. You can dab it straight onto an itch or pour some into a bath.
  • Try essential oils such as lavender, calendula, chamomile or geranium. Apply to the skin with a medium such as olive oil, or add to your bath water.
  • Moisturize with oils such as olive or almond.
  • Try coconut oil on dry, itchy spots of skin.
  • Milk and honey both sooth dry skin. Do not use if you’re allergic, however.
  • Use cold water against itchy skin.
