How can I treat carbuncles?

  • Make a paste of cornmeal and water and spread it over the carbuncle to help dry it out.
  • Make a suction cup by boiling a glass in a pot of water for a few minutes. Take it out and let it cool slightly, then apply over the carbuncle until a vacuum forms. Leave  until it cools and naturally releases, then wash any puss away.
  • Rub onion over the carbuncle or wrap a piece of onion over it with a bandage and leave for 3-4 hours to help fight off the bacteria.
  • Don’t squeeze the carbuncle and try to force it; let it come to a head and drain on its own.
  • Wash any towels, sheets or clothes that have been in contact with the carbuncle to help kill off the bacteria.
  • Apply warm, moist compresses for 20 minutes several times a day.
  • Tea tree oil can be dabbed onto a carbuncle to help clear out bacteria.
  • Turmeric is a blood purifier and anti-inflammatory. It can be added to water and drunk three times a day.
  • Soak bread in warm milk and apply to the carbuncle for 15 minutes, four times a day.
  • Echinacea can be taken to help boost immunity and help with circulation.
