Stop Chafing Naturally

When the skin rubs against itself or your clothing too much it can cause chafing or irritation of the skin. Chafing is general characterized by sore, red patches of skin often found in the inner thighs, under arms, nipples and groin area. Sweat mixed with rubbing body parts is a huge culprit in causing chafing and those who exercise a lot or who are severely overweight are most likely to suffer from chafing.


How do I know if I have chafing?

  • Stinging
  • Burning sensation
  • Red patches of skin
  • Inflammation and swelling
  • Excessive irritation
  • Itching
  • Soreness
  • Tenderness


How do I prevent chafing?

  • Keep skin as dry as possible.
  • Wear clothes that are cotton and loose fitting.
  • Keep your skin will moisturized.
  • Lose weight.


How can I treat chafing?

  • Try treating the chafed area with vasoline, baby oil, almond oil, lavender oil, Vitamin E oil or cream or aloe vera gel. These all help to moisturize skin and improve healing.
  • Use talcum or baby powder to keep areas that chafe frequently dry without drying the skin out.
  • Zinc oxide can be applied to help heal and then removed with a swift wipe of olive oil.
  • Lose weight and maintain a healthy weight.
  • Eat foods high in Vitamin A and beta-carotene.
  • Eat lots of foods high in vitamin C which helps to speed healing.
  • Wash the area with mild soap and lukewarm (not hot) water, then dry thoroughly.
  • Watch the chafing and make sure it doesn’t get infected.
